Voyage of the Frog

Foreshadowing Assignment

The author uses many instances of a literary device called foreshadowing in this novel. Foreshadowing is when the author gives the reader a hint of something that is going to happen before it actually happens. This gives us a sense of impending disaster and often makes a story more exciting.

Directions: Look for examples of foreshadowing in the story. Write the passage and then tell what actually happened, moments or pages later.

As you read the novel, you will be presented with a lot of nautical vocabulary. You may find this diagram of " The Frog " useful.

You may also like to follow David's voyage on this map.

For convenience, you might want to print a hard copy of the above to refer to later.

Now read Chapters 1 - 3 and go to Assignment 1.
